My Writing

Though I could answer the question, "What do you write?" quite simply with "Everything once!" it wouldn't be altogether accurate, nevermind unsatisfactory to the inquirer. I don't write romances. I despise them. I wrote a single mystery when I was very little and never again since. Now, my writings resemble  what I read - folk and fairy tales, fantasy, science fiction, "regular" fiction, essays, literary criticism, naturalistic and historical writing, even educational essays and texts, but always keeping in mind those children, young adults, and of course, the young at heart.
It would seem then, that the more accurate response would be "Children's Literature." Which is true. Though I would ask for a show of hands for those adults who read children's literature and those "minors" who devour books three times the width with fonts half the size of those books intended for their age group.
My point? I try to write well. And that's really it. If it meets certain guidelines, I will publish it and gladly look for it in that section of the bookstore. My ultimate goal is to tell a good tale, spin a good yarn, and to somehow, someway, strike a chord within that person. To make a connection, create recognition, resonance, truth.
And of course, always, to keep 'em coming back for more.

Biography

The Short Version

Once upon a time, a little girl read a book and didn't like the ending. She snuck off with her father's typewriter and rewrote the book. When she was done, she made up another tale, this one entirely her own, because why should she read books that didn't suit her? Today, having returned the typewriter, the wordprocesser and the computer to her father, she still sits at the laptop, thinking up stories and hopes that her stories will suite others.

The Long Version
